Plains Rally 17th May 2014

Our first event of 2014.

For 2014 I have entered the BTRDA, Welsh and FMP Challenge championships with the Plains Rally being a round of all three championships.
This was my first rally since the Wales Rally GB back in November. Starting in Welshpool on Saturday with codriver, Dale Furniss, we headed down to Hafren for the first stage. The car handled well with 12th fastest time set on that stage. By the time we reached Dolgellau service, two stages later, we were up to 10th Place overall.

The afternoon started well. Stage 4 was good but as we ended stage 5 i noticed that there was something wrong with the steering. On the road section the power steering got heavier only to find that we had a leak on one of the hoses and had lost all the power steering fluid.

Not giving up, we managed to get through the final three stages but lost a lot of time, finishing the rally 35th overall but, most importantly, earning some points for all three championships. Now looking forward to being back out on the Severn Valley on 31st May!
